Broadcasting basically refers to the transmission of audio or video content to the subscribed audience. Broadcasting television is the transmission encoded and receiving the encrypted television signals. The signals can be transferred through cable wires, satellites, and an internet connection. Previously, there was a traditional mode of broadcasting the content through cables and satellites. Now we are shifting from cables and satellites to internet modes. There are various methods of broadcasting television are – Analogue terrestrial TV – Terrestrial TV is the oldest medium of broadcasting the signals. It is different from the underground cables and satellite signals. It is a broadcasting method from the very beginning of the television and there was no other method of transmitting the signals are available. The image and sounds are encoded and transmitted into an analogue signal in which the message transmitted and composed of amplitude and modulated into UHF/VHF carrier. Digital satellite TV – Digital satellite television is the television signal where the signals are transmitted through communication channels and received by setup boxes and satellite dishes. It provides a vast range of channels or services in many areas of the world. Cable TV – Cable television is also known as community antenna television. It is a system where the distribution of audiovisual content takes place for television, radio or other services through coaxial fiber cables. It involves the distribution of television channels which are processed in a central head-end and received by consumers through a network of cables. New technologies – There are various new technologies of broadcasting the television system are – DTTV – This is digital terrestrial television which is transmitted the signals on radio frequencies through airwaves. It provides a number of channels, videos, better sound and picture quality through using a conventional antenna. HDTV – This is the high definition television which provides higher resolution than in traditional formats. VOD – This is the video on demand system or audio-video on demand system which allows the user to select and watch the audio or video content on demand. IPTV – This is the internet protocol television which is a subscriber based telecommunication program where the digital content is provided over the internet connection by using internet protocol. The services can receive through set-up boxes, computer system, and television and even in mobile phones. Conclusion Television broadcasting has various methods for transmitting and receiving the signals whether it is done through cables, satellites or through internet modes.
